What to Expect
Decoys' primary responsibility will be supporting the Trial Director, Cheryl Carlson, by decoying in a safe and consistent manner for dogs competing in the 2024 Dog Sports Open (DSO). The DSO is a unique biting sports dog show that features agility, obedience and handler protection exercises. There are three levels of competition for the dog/handler teams - Beginner (utilizing both sleeves and suits), Intermediate (full suit) and Advanced (full suit).
The decoy competition will be patterned after decoy selection and will be judged by Dennis Riber Jensen. While the decoys will be working scenarios designed by the Trial Director, they may be asked by the Decoy Judge to perform other tasks and/or demonstrate various techniques in order to aid in judging. This competition is open to all styles of decoying but decoys must be able to follow instructions provided by the Trial Director and the Decoy Judge.
There is no cost to enter the decoy competition.
Any questions regarding formatting, judging, etc. should be directed to Cheryl Carlson at (517) 719-0208.
